Deacon Sarfaraz Pinto

We are excited to welcome Deacon Sarfaraz Pinto to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish,  appointed by Archbishop Leo. In his role as a Permanent Deacon, his ministry work at OLS will include: assisting in the ministry of the Word, the ministry of the altar, and the ministry of charity. He will share these responsibilities with Deacon Jeremy.   

Deacon Sarfaraz’s journey has grown from being a nominal Sunday churchgoer in his country of Mumbai to encountering Jesus while employed an oil-rich country in the Middle East; to immigrating to Canada and, in a couple of years, being identified by his then Pastor as “deacon material”. Reflecting on his journey, Deacon Sarfaraz says: “It is amazing how the Lord works.” With the full-fledged support of his late wife Luiza and their four children, he is grateful to the Lord for having called him to serve. Deacon Sarfaraz recently moved to Etobicoke after having served at a Markham Parish for close to 14 years.
