Between Oct. 31 and Nov. 12, global political leaders, businesses, and civil society organizations will gather in Glasgow to discuss climate change at the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. As world leaders meet, organizers are planning a Global Day of Action for Climate Justice on Nov. 6. In Toronto, the demands for this day of action include respecting Indigenous sovereignty, phasing out fossil fuels, a just transition for communities and workers, and global justice that recognizes the impact of climate change on the Global South.
Kairos Canada and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace are organizing a faith presence at the Climate Justice Now gathering this coming Saturday, Nov. 6th at 1 pm, and all are welcome! You are invited to gather together with other people of faith thirty minutes before the march at 12:30 pm, meeting at the northwest corner of Wellesley and Queen’s Park Crescent, as a way of participating in this global movement.
