Pre-Authorized Giving

What is the Pre-Authorized Giving Plan?

Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Toronto, Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG) assists parishioners in the Archdiocese in making their regular offertory donations to their parish by direct debit. Parishioners can also choose to pledge monthly or yearly donations to any of the Special Diocesan Collections or parish funds (i.e. ShareLife / Shepherds' Trust / Roof / Sanctuary Floor etc...). Monthly authorized donations are automatically withdrawn from your bank account and are deposited into the parish bank account on the 20th of each month. The parish counts on this consistent, regular support of our parishioners.

Why Should I Participate?

Advantages for you:

  • Convenience:  Your offering is deducted from your account once each month and automatically deposited in the Parish account.
  • You can plan your giving in advance for the whole year.
  • You can continue to support Our Lady of Sorrows when you are away.

Advantages for Our Lady of Sorrows:

  • A regular, dependable flow of contributions, especially during times of crisis or absence.
  • A reduction of paperwork, processing and bookkeeping. 

How Will PAG Replace My Current Giving?

If you participate in the Pre-Authorized Giving plan, you will not need to use envelopes for your regular offertory donation or any other funds you choose to support in this way. Generic envelopes can be used for offerings not covered by your PAG pledge.

Who Looks After the Plan?

The local parish administers the PAG pledges and the Office of Development of the Archdiocese of Toronto uploads the pledges to the banks on approximately the 15th of the month so that all withdrawals from bank accounts occur on the 20th of each month. The funds are then deposited into the parish bank account.  Our Lady of Sorrows parish will continue to issue donation receipts for all PAG donations.

Confidentiality, Security & Enrollment:

We are committed to keeping your personal information confidential and secure and have taken measures to protect the security of your personal information.

You may stop PAG at any time by simply writing a letter or email to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish with 30 days notice. If you would prefer to use a standardized cancellation form instead, you can obtain one from your financial institution or at www.cdnpay.ca.

You have certain recourse rights if any debit does not comply with this agreement. For example, you have the right to receive reimbursement for any debit that is not consistent with this PAG agreement. To obtain more information on your recourse rights, you may contact your financial institution or visit www.cdnpay.ca.

How Do I Enroll?

To guarantee security and confidentiality, please email us your completed authorization and pledge form.  Make sure to include either an image of your cheque details or a print-out from your bank showing your account details.  Forms and account details may be emailed to: dolores@sorrows.ca.

(Alternatively, the forms and account details can be dropped off in the mail slot at the parish office in a sealed envelope marked:  Attention Dolores – PAG).
